When you reach a certain age, seeing family is no longer fun. This is especially true of family reunions. My nephew Dean was certainly bored at this reunion, but it was deeper than simple boredom. He laid alone in his thoughts, having some indefinable existential experience, as his much younger cousins just inches away carelessly play. He appears to understand that this carefree world is gone.
