Dr. Samuel “Sammy” Lee, 91, was the first Asian-American to win an Olympic gold medal for the U.S. at the 1948 London games, and the first man to win back-to-back gold medals in Olympic platform diving. Olympic medalists from the 1948 games in London remember their experiences in the post-war ‘austerity’ Olympics. Even with a tiny budget and a war-worn country, the athletes managed to have a good time. See more photos here.
