This week at Janet Borden: Tina Barney, Small Towns In Small Towns, Ms. Barney directs her discriminating eye to document elements of American life that are becoming scarce. Behind the malls and interstate highways that now typify the American landscape still lie small towns. The life they harbor is situated in the local businesses, parades, fairs, independent cafes and stores that are Barney’s subjects. True to her work throughout her thirty-year career, Barney does not pose her subjects nor does she manipulate the setting of her photographs. In Small Towns, Ms. Barney directs her discriminating eye to document elements of American life that are becoming scarce.
