TONIGHT, 6:30pm - Benjamin Lowy will be giving an artist talk at Aperture: An award-winning photojournalist, Lowy has embraced new technology and mediums to promote stories. Lowy’s work from Libya and Afghanistan has been hailed as forward-thinking in its use not only of camera phones, but also social media platforms. Lowy will discuss his work and the practice of shooting with a camera phone in conflict zones and in the United States, as well as the advantages and limitations of using the medium. Recently Lowy’s camera-phone image of Hurricane Sandy graced the cover of Time magazine, the first camera-phone image to ever be so featured. See his work here on LightBox.
